The Temple is Indeed the House of the Lord

CARLSBAD — I got to go to the temple on Aug 19, 2011 and it was one of the best experiences I have had in my life! Every one told me that it was going to be confusing and there would be a lot to remember and boy was that an understatement. Good thing that I had my Dad, Grandpa, Mom, Bishop, and the Temple Workers there to help me out. :D

Going through the Temple was more than I could have ever imagined it to be but, at the same time it was strangely yet comfortingly familiar. The spirit I felt there was undeniable. I felt at peace without a worry to worry about. I'm not very good at describing things but the best way to put it is perfect and I wish I could spend every moment of my life there. Well, and in the ocean surfing... ;)

I look forward to going to the Temple as often as I can because it really is the House of the Lord and the most sacred place on this Earth. I hope everyone who is reading this has had or will have the chance to enter the temple too!

Here are a few pics...

  1. Hi Elder Robert. B Dirkmaat,
You so not know me. I live in Orem Utah and am starting to create a blog for our missionary here. As I googled ideas to include on the blog, I came across yours and noticed that you are leaving in November of this year? Josh Balmforth is leaving a couple of days before Thanksgiving and will report at the MTC in South Africa Johannesburg on Thanksgiving Day.

I like your blog, we plan on doing the same thing here and then hope to print out a book on blurb afterwards. How did you do the connection with google for the mission area? If you could help me that would be wonderful.

Let me know when you leave on your mission and I can put you in touch with Josh. There is a good chance you may be companions sometime.

    Thank you!

  2. Hi Brenda!

Wow that is way cool! I saw Josh on the facebook group for the South Africa Johannesburg Mission as well. I leave on the 22nd of November to get to the MTC in South Africa on Thanksgiving too. We might get to meet up before we even get to South Africa.

I like the book idea you have and will definitely look into that and as for the google map thing, I will go ahead try to explain how I did it and send it to your email.

    Thanks for the comment!
